Overview
Stacks allows developers to build decentralized applications and smart contracts that use Bitcoin as a secure base layer, written in a programming language called Clarity. Bitcoin holders can lock their BTC under their own keys and earn yield in BTC funded by Stacks miners through a mechanism called Proof of Transfer. The network is used by individuals seeking Bitcoin yield, institutions looking for self-custodial BTC returns, and developers building DeFi products, wallets, and other Bitcoin-native applications.
